Profile

My clinical interests are in the area of adult neurological rehabilitation and in particular, functional recovery post-stroke. I completed a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology at McMaster and subsequently divided my time doing research in cardiovascular disease prevention and studies in improving function.  In particular, I am involved in large clinical trials in both primary and secondary prevention, and rehabilitation studies involving functional recovery post stroke

Concurrently I have been involved in the Term 3 clinical skills course in year one, and one of the evidence based practice courses in year two of the occupational therapy program. I also teach in the Health Research Methodology program for the Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics department. I am also completing my PhD through the School of Rehabilitation Science, and my thesis work is evaluating cognitive based motor learning approaches to the recovery of function post-stroke.

Research Specialty

Jackie’s area of research is in motor recovery post stroke, clinical trials methodology and measuring function.

Fun Fact

Would like the School of Rehabilitation Science to consider opening a satellite campus in Switzerland – especially in ski season.
